Tonight I watched the NBC TV station, Channel 2 in Houston. There was a girl on there with a long, foreign name, like Russian or something. I had never seen her on there before.
She is reporting on some police action on Fugua Street in Houston. Everyone is Houston, from Houston, and around Houston know how Fugua is pronounced, 'Fuke-way'. She pronounces it
Fuk-e-waugh.
Then on to another story from another so called news reporter. He turns Clinton Drive into Clinton Road. Clinton Drive is one of the oldest streets in Houston. It's always been Clinton Drive.
And to top it off there is a weekend news anchor, unshaven, looking like a homeless wino from under a bridge somewhere.
It's no wonder that station is at the tail end of the pack in Houston TV news ratings.
These things makes me wonder how dependable their news reports area if they don't even take the time to learn the correct pronunciation of the streets they are on, or to shave.
